About Kit Keeper
Kit Keeper was created by Michael McCreadie, this is the story (so far!).
How it Started
In 2016, I embarked on my academic journey in computer science at The University of York.
Faced with the reality that my dad wouldn't be able to pick me up from university, I had to grapple with the inconvenience of transporting my belongings by bus.
This led me to contacting a nearby self-storage facility, where I had to pay ridiculously high prices and use the super archaic service.

How it Launched
Determined to find a better way, the following year I invested my student loan into a van and a bulk purchase of cardboard boxes. I launched kitkeeper.co.uk and began offering a tailored box-by-box service to my friends at uni.
The service was straightforward: I would provide the boxes, the students packed their items, and I would store them over the summer, and redeliver them to their new accommodations at the start of the new term. The service was met with enthusiasm, clearly addressing a widespread need.
My entrepreneurial efforts paid off in 2017 when I won £500 in the Santander University pitching competition.
As word spread, the demand for my services grew, and I had to rent larger spaces to accommodate the influx of boxes. The business achievements continued to accumulate; in 2019, we won both the York Festival of Ideas Award and the Duke of York Young Entrepreneur Award. We also began sponsoring local sports teams and societies, further embedding the brand within the student community.

HOW IT IS GOING
By 2020, the support from The University of York, The Prince's Trust, and InnovateUK, along with private investment, empowered us to expand our reach across the UK. The growth was incredible.
By 2021 we had branched out to 40 cities, quickly becoming the top-rated student storage provider in the UK. We heavily invested in our technology and formed strategic logistics partnerships, which enabled us to offer collection and delivery services nationwide and even globally.
Today in 2022, we stand as one of the largest and most popular student storage companies in the country, with a long-term goal to be the preferred choice for all university students' storage and shipping needs.
By 2021 we had branched out to 40 cities, quickly becoming the top-rated student storage provider in the UK. We heavily invested in our technology and formed strategic logistics partnerships, which enabled us to offer collection and delivery services nationwide and even globally.
